Robbie at the House Assembly – Robbie Tupakokouksessa

In our school there are four houses. Every pupil in our school belongs to one of these houses.  Every house has its own colour. St. Anthony is green, St. Bernadette yellow, St. Cecilia red and St. John-Fisher blue. The houses are named after Saints.

Meidän koulussa on neljä tupaa. Jokainen meidän koulun oppilas kuuluu johonkin näistä tuvista. Jokaisella tuvalla on oma tunnusvärinsä. Pyhä Anthony on vihreä, Pyhä Bernadette keltainen, Pyhä Cecilia punainen ja Pyhä Joh-Kingfisher sininen. Tuvat on nimetty pyhimysten mukaan.

All of the teams have house captains. The house captains are the oldest pupils in the school. Here is Liberty, who is one of the house Captains. She wears a pin so everyone knows she is a house captain.

Jokaisella tuvalla on oma tuvanjohtaja. Tupien johtajat ovat koulun vanhimpia oppilaita. Tässä on Liberty, joka on yksi tuvanjohtajista. Hän pitää puserossaan pinniä, jotta tietävät hänen olevan tupajohtaja.

We wear wrist bands that tell everyone of which house we belong to. During the school year we collect house points for our houses. You can get house points for showing a good example to others. You can get house points for example by helping the teacher, cleaning the table without anyone telling you to and being kind and generous to others.

Pidämme rannekkeita joista tunnistaa mihin tupaan kuulumme.Keräämme pisteitä tuvallemme kouluvuoden aikana. Pisteitä voi ansaita olemalla esimerkillinen. Pisteitä saa esimerkiksi auttamalla opettajaa, siivoamalla pulpetit ilman, että kukaan erikseen käskee, sekä olemalla kiltti ja reilu muita kohtaan.

Whoever gets the most house points at the end of the term will get win the house cup. The winning house gets a trophy. It will have ribbons on it, and the colour of the ribbons represent the winning house.

Se tupa, jolla on eniten tupapisteitä kouluvuoden lopussa, voittaa Tupa Cupin. Voittajatupa saa pokaalin. Pokaali koristellaan voittajatuvan värisillä nauhoilla.

Kiah & Robbie

Robbie was at Kiah’s house last Tuesday. Robbie was watching my sister build a den so we can play in there for a bit until dinner. Robbie had a lovely roast dinner for tea. Robbie met my cat Tinx and all my teddies. 

Robbie oli Kiahin kotona kylässä viime tiistaina. Robbie katsoi kun siskoni rakensi majan, jossa me leikimme ruoka-aikaan asti. Illalliseksi Robbie söi ihanan paistiaterian. Robbie tapasi kissani Tinxin ja kaikki pehmoleluni.

Robbie at the cake sale

Before the half term we had a cake sale. We brought £1 to school and with that money we could get two cakes. Our parents and teachers baked the cakes. The money from the cake sale goes to charity. There were donuts, heart shaped cookies, mini rolls, muffins with strawberry icing and plenty of other delicious treats.

Robbie had a great time eating his cakes. We had to tell him to stop that he doesn't get a tummy ache!

Ennen talvilomaviikkoa meillä oli koulussa kakkumyyjäiset. Toimme kukin kouluun yhden punnan, ja sillä saimme ostaa kaksi kakkua. Vanhemmat ja opettajat leipoivat kakut. Kakuista saadut rahat menevät hyväntekeväisyyteen. Tarjolla oli donitseja, sydämenmuotoisia keksejä, suklaarullia, muffinsseja mansikkakuorrutuksella sekä monia muita herkkuja.

Robbie nautti kakkujen syönnistä. Meidän piti muistuttaa Robbieta, että liiasta makean syönnistä tulee maha kipeäksi!

Robbie on the Half Term Holiday

Last week we had a half term holiday and we got to take Robbie with us.

Viime viikolla meillä oli talvilomaviikko ja otimme Robbien mukaan viettämään sitä meidän kanssamme.

We took Robbie with us to Exeter. It is a bigger city one hour train journey away from Barnstaple. In Exeter Robbie went to the Cathedral, to the museum and to eat Chinese. He found the food really yummy!

Otimme Robbien mukanamme Exeteriin. Se on iso kaupunki noin tunnin  junamatkan päässä Barnstaplesta. Exeterissä Robbie kävi katedraalissa, museossa ja syömässä kiinalaista ruokaa. Sen mielestä ruoka oli tosi herkullista!

One day we went to the beach to have a nice walk with our dog Holly and Robbie. There are lots of beaches around Barnstaple. Robbie made good friends with Holly during the week as you can see from the pictures!

Yhtenä päivänä menimme rannalle kävelylle meidän koiran, Hollyn, ja Robbien kanssa. Barnstaplen ympäristössä on paljon rantoja. Robbie ystävystyi Hollyn kanssa kuten kuvat kertovat!

Robbie was not just idling during the holiday because Alexander took him to do gymnastics and to play tennis!

Robbie ei laiskotellut lomalla, koska Alexander otti Robbien mukaansa telivoimisteluharjoituksiin ja pelaamaan tennistä!

Robbie was also watching Emily’s gymnastics competition. Robbie was cheering on her a lot and maybe that’s why she won the gold medal!

Robbie osallistui myös katsojana Emilyn telinevoimistelukilpailuun. Robbie kannusti Emilyä kovasti ja ehkäpä juuri siksi Emily voitti kultaa!

Petteri & Pancake Tuesday

 On Tuesday we celebrated the Pancake Day. In Finland you celebrated laskiainen at the same time. In the old days people cleared their cupboard of food. All that was left was egg, sugar and flour. From these ingredients, people made pancakes and that’s why it is called the Pancake Day. We made some pancakes at school and some families make them at home. Shakeira took Robbie (that's how we call Petteri here) home where he ate 4 pancakes with syrup on the top. He really liked them!

Tiistaina vietimme juhlaa nimeltä Pancake Day (Pannukakkupäivä). Suomessa vietettiin samaan aikaan laskiaista. Ennen vanhaan ihmiset siivosivat keittiön komerot ruoka-aineista tähän aikaan vuodesta. Jäljelle jäi ainoastaan kananmunia, sokeria ja jauhoja. Näistä aineksista ihmiset leipoivat pannukakkuja, ja siksi päivää kutsutaan nimellä Pancake Day. Shakeira otti Robbien (kuten kutsumme Petteriä täällä) kotiin, jossa hän söi 4 siirapilla kuorrutettua pannukakkua. Robbie piti pannukakuista tosi paljon!

Petteri plays hockey!

Petteri & Northern Lights

Last week we learnt about the Northern Lights. We went to a website that explains facts. We wrote a poem about the Northern Lights and watched a video. The Northern Lights are curly, shiny and colourful. They are like curtains hanging from the sky. Then we painted our own pictures!

Have you ever seen the Northern Lights in Finland?

Viime viikolla opiskelimme revontulia. Menimme nettisivuille, joilla kerrotaan faktoja revontulista. Kirjoitimme runon revontulista ja katsoimme videon. Revontulet ovat kiemuraisia, loistavia ja värikkäitä. Ne ovat kuin verhot, jotka roikkuvat taivaalta. Sitten maalasimme omat taideteoksemme!
